When making my jelly roll fabric rugs and other tube creations I love using the precut batting. I like using the 2 1/4″ wide bundles found here.

These batting rolls are so convenient to use when making my fabric rugs. I personally like using the 2 1/4″ wide ones as I find they work best when adding to the 2 1/2″ wide jelly roll strips and the folding tools. One of these rolls will make one 40 strip jelly roll rug. It comes with a sewing awl which is perfect for assisting in getting those ends scrunched good with these rugs. It also comes with a bias tape maker, which is too small to use for these projects, but can be helpful when we go to make binding for our other tube creations.

I have cut my own batting and used the precut rolls more because I love the ease of it. And they come on a roll so I just pop it onto my curtain rod under my desk and pulls so easily off to add to my fabric strips when making the fabric tubes. I find that these work well inside my rugs and wash fine as well. No issues with shrinking or any others.

I have a new book featuring fun jelly roll projects made using fabric strips and batting. The book features 10 of my patterns, full of pictures, tips and sizing guides. My book, Jelly Roll Rug Creations, can be found exclusively here.
