I’m so excited that I finally did it… finally was able to paint my first realistic bird. So I have been painting birds and such in acrylic for years now and drawing them with my stain art, but they are typically a little more whimsical and just drawn for fun. This time I was able to use a reference photo and try a bit more realistic like I’ve always hoped one day I could do.

I’ve decided I am keeping this one because I love it so much and I’m so happy with the way it came out. I have no idea where I am going to put it in my home, but it’s staying!

I think I am going to be trying more birds and see how they come out. I really like the way the branches look and the greenery and florals on this wood. I have always loved watching birds and often take pictures of them in my front yard during all times of the year.
