These are hand painted custom dog portraits on wood rounds. These are painted using a photo as reference.

I found it comforting to paint on such a small canvas. I start each portrait off by first sketching the main shapes and details of each animal onto my wood slices.

I had so much fun creating all these personalized keepsakes this holiday season. I never ever thought this was something I’d be able to do. Portraits have always seemed so challenging to me. Somehow one day I wanted to paint my own dogs and then it kinda went from there…

I wanted to create something special for our local town school. I came up with these small 3″ wood slice magnets hand painted with the school logo and little saying on it.
